Macbeth: Power and reading times

At the beginning of Macbeth, power was supposed to be a main idea of the play and I think that continued to be truthful. Power is what drove Macbeth to do what he did. The whole play is based upon power and how Macbeth went to achieve it and the aftermath of his attempt to gain power. Lady Macbeth realizes that the power wasn't worth all of the guilt that she felt before she died.
This topic has become a theme in the play that is trying to send a message to the readers. Shakespeare is trying to show that if you try to get power in a way that undermines the people around you then in the end you won't achieve the power that you wanted and there will be consequences. This theme is showed in all of the act and scenes throughout the play.

  1. I like your idea about Shakespeare's message. I also believe that the lust for power can be wrong if the actions that follow it are negative.
